Full Day Aswan Tour “ 2 Persons at least “
 |
Your tour guide for the day will meet you in the reception of your hotel and transfer you to the banks of the Nile River. The day starts the day with a morning sail on a traditional 'felucca sail' boat. Sail along the Nile River from banks of Aswan to view the Elephantine Island and Agha-Khan Mausoleum. Then sail further to view Kitchener's Island and the Botanical Gardens before returning to the riverbank
Next is a guided tour of the Unfinished Obelisk that remains in situ attached to the rock on one side. This gigantic single piece of granite was intended to be an obelisk and is generally attributed to Queen Hatshepsut, being very similar to her obelisk in Karnak Temple in Luxor and the ancient Granite Quarries, where stone for the building of many of Egypt's monuments was obtained. Following is a tour of the High Dam.
The day ends with a tour of the Philae Temple. For over 50 years, the Island of Philae and its monuments lay half-submerged in water built up by the Aswan Dam. The temples have now been completely dismantled and rebuilt to the original orientation on the nearby island of Angelica that rises higher from the water and has been reshaped and landscaped to resemble the original Philae. Metal pylons on the old island of Philae can still be seen rising from the water to the south of Angelica. At the end of the day your guide will return you to your hotel.

Religious tour to Visit St Simeon Monastery
 |
Join a camel ride to the southern tip of Elephantine Island where you will find St Simeon\'s Monastery, an ancient, abandoned fortress monastery mostly built during the 7th century and located near Aswan.
The monastery was given the name St Simeon by archaeologists and travelers, but earlier Arabic and Coptic sources called it Anba Hatre (Hidra, Hadri, Hadra), after an anchorite who was consecrated a bishop of Syene (now Aswan) by Patriarch Theophilus (385-412 AD).
Anba Hatre married at the age of eighteen. Tradition says that just after the wedding, he encountered a funeral procession which inspired him to preserve his chastity and later become a disciple of Saint Baiman.
After eight years of ascetic practices under the supervision of his teacher, he retired to the desert and applied himself to the study of the life of Saint Antony. He died during the time of Theodosius I.
